Exceedingly rare flyer promoting the screening of Spike Lee’s first feature film and student thesis, Joe’s Bed-Stuy Barbershop: We Cut Heads, at d.c. space. The film screened as part of “I Am Eye,” an underground independent film series held at d.c. space from 1982 until the venue’s closure, and then elsewhere until 1997.

Early Spike Lee material is quite scarce, and this document also records the influence of the various downtown New York scenes with the broader underground East Coast movements of the 1980s.
