A cryptic, abstract anti-war poster representing harrowing imagery of the survivors of the Kent State massacre, and captioned “I saw it.” Produced by Kent State students shortly after May 4, 1970, this haunting poster captures the trauma of the incident, while connecting its particularity to the broader political violence of the period. The picture’s abstraction of a dark cloud over the fleeing civilians links the American campus with the carnage in Vietnam.
