First American edition of Andreyev’s final novel, which he completed just days before he died in Finland in 1919. The novel follows Satan, who, having arrived on earth for amusement, assumes the form of an American multi-millionaire. He travels to Europe, where he falls in love with the daughter of a new friend and, in the end, finds himself outwitted and broken. Scarce.
