First edition, second impression of R.H. Malden’s collection of ghost stories. A personal friend of M.R. James, Malden was a member of the select group that attended James’ yearly Christmas Eve ghost story recitation. The Dean of Wells, Malden was a prominent Anglican churchman, Biblical scholar, and editor. He published a number of works in his lifetime, though most were predominantly related to the church. He issued Nine Ghosts as a tribute to James, and it remains his most celebrated achievement.
