Redtape Magazine Disco in the Streets!

[New York]: Redtape Magazine, ca. 1982. Offset, stamped. 11 x 8 1/2 in. Very good; three short closed tears to lower margin. Item #7474

An attractive broadside on paper by Redtape Magazine. Featuring images of rioting in Paris following the once-left-wing president Francois Mitterand’s tournant de la rigueur (austerity turn).

Edited by Michael Carter, Redtape was an essential and boundary-breaking East Village art, literary, and comics magazine. According to the editor and publisher Michael Carter, the purpose of the magazine was “to explore new possibilities and forms of expression, to develop craft and technique without becoming sequestered in an intellectual or academic ivory tower.” The magazine published work by both established and emerging writers and artists, including the soon-to-be famous Greer Lankton, David Wojnarowicz, Gregory Corso, Ed Sanders, Kathy Acker, and Barbara Ess.
