Poughkeepsie: Gold Key & K.K. Publications, Inc., 1963. Offset. Saddle-stapled in pictorial wraps. [32] pp. 10 1/4 x 7 1/4 in. Very good; leaves toned, some minor soiling to wraps, pinholes at foot of a few leaves. Item #7425

The fourteenth issue of Hanna Barbera’s classic comic, featuring “Rodney’s Beatnik Dictionary.” The one-page lexicon is offered as many readers (supposedly) complained that they couldn’t understand the words of Rodney Rocktop, Twitchy Itchy, “and the other bearded beats of the Purple Zen Den.” After studying the terms, “it should be easy to understand typical conversation such as this dialogue overheard a few evenings ago at the Purple Zen Den: ‘Man, like it was a bad scene, a drag, a wash-out, the most minus. I was at this cat’s pad trying to dig the sounds and make the scene when a square dad from nowheresville starts bugging me for not laying some bread on him for all the goodies I had mooched, like, at his pad in days of yore. I was so bugged I just cut out, split … you know, ankled the action and told thew hole bit … ‘Like, later’.”.
