Original program and performer ephemera for the fifth Alternative Miss World contest, an inclusive beauty pageant and party open to participants of all ages, nationalities, and genders, including those who are trans or gender non-conforming. Founded by Andrew Logan in 1972, the AMW contest aims to celebrate beauty from within, rather than uphold traditional beauty standards.

This program includes photographs and information on the 1981 contestants and past years’ competitors. Tipped in are three pieces of rare memorabilia from the night of the event as well as a magazine clipping on the 1981 Alternative Miss World.

The fifth AMW was held on October 2, 1981 at the Grand Hall Olympia in London, and its theme was “Imperial Fantasy.”.
