The book juxtaposes candid pictures of the two artists, with reproductions of Oehlen’s sketches, paintings, and video-stills. The two had long collaborated before Kippenberger’s death, building a reputation as enfants terribles of the German art scene in the decades before the turn of the century, confronting what they perceived as a torpid and arrested artistic scene: what they called a "death of painting" in collective experience. As shown in this book, their work became immersed in concept-production and the outrageous personality of their collaboration.
