Starting in 1964, a businessman named Bob Damron began publishing his "address books" - encyclopedic guides to gay bars and social spots throughout the United States. Between 2014 and 2015, photographer Rudolph Forster visited each of the 78 Los Angeles locations listed in Damron's original guide. The photographs are organized by neighborhood, and virtually none of the old spots are still housed in these locations, conjuring a reflective and haunting glimpse into LGBTQ history. To this day, the Damron company exists as a resource for gay and lesbian travel - both with an online database and publisher of guidebooks.
