Item #5140 Factory Records Notepaper (FAC 115). Peter Saville.

Factory Records Notepaper (FAC 115)

Item #5140

Manchester, England. 1984. Red and black thermographic printing. 8 x 11 in. 2 pp onion skin paper. Annotation in blue ink on one sheet.

FAC 115 is another superb example of the label’s unusual take on production and design. These two pages are of the second generation of Factory stationery, with two more versions to follow. On one page is written Peter Savile [sic] and Saville’s studio phone number, in an unknown hand. The letterhead itself has the 1984 Factory Records logo, in a red and black thermographic print.

The design at the bottom of the page includes the steam from the Factory logo, a list of board members—including Tony Wilson and Peter Saville—and the Limited Company and VAT numbers. The address and phone number for Factory Records are printed on each page, as well as the catalog number FAC 115.

This stationery is a prime example of Factory’s meticulous design and the amount of care and attention they put into their products, including items produced solely for internal office use.
