John Cage’s The Living Theater performance was scheduled shortly after his recording, Indeterminacy: New Aspect of Form and Electronic Music, was released by Folkways Records in ‘59. Indeterminacy signifies a style of composition which leaves segments open to interpretation and chance. This flyer’s text is aligned on the right side of the page in a neat vertical column. It advertises Cage’s performance of Indeterminacy and support from David Tudor, as well as Cage’s record and where to find it. Cage was a frequent collaborator of the Living, performing occasionally and helping to organize its relocation to 14th St. and 6th Ave in ‘59. The Living Theater continues as one of the original Off-Broadway theater groups in the USA.
