Prometheus, like 7 meditations was a collective creation of the living theatre: written, staged, and performed those surrounding Judith Malina and Julien Beck. The early acts of the play consisted of a retelling of the myth of Prometheus as well as commentary the various symbolic aspects, while the later acts move into a more realistic mode, taking place during the Russian Revolution and involving Emma Goldman, Mayakovsky, and Isadora Duncan, and Lenin who take the place of Zeus, Pandora, and Orpheus on the historical stage.
