Richard Prince (b. 1949) is an artist known for a transgressive appropriation of commercial photography and the work of others in order to recontextualize and subvert their meanings. Spiritual America, named for his controversial re-photographing of Brooke Shields, provides a retrospective overview and reworking of Prince’s work throughout the 1980s.
