With an introduction by Allen Ginsberg outlining his discovery of the French avant-garde in general and Michaux in particular; the two had met several times and discussed among them issues of mutual interest, not the least being psychedelics, of which Ginsberg reports Michaux remarking to him in 1961: “I am less interested in the visions that people have with the drugs and more interested in how they manifest their experience after-wards.” Nevertheless, here is presented one of Michaux’s unique transcriptions of the drug experience as filtered through his idiosyncratic subjectivity. One of the great records of drug experiments, by the author of such classics in the genre as Miserable Miracle.
