Issue 2 of The Rebel Worker, official journal of the Chicago branch of the General Recruiting Union of the Industrial Workers of the World, published Summer 1964.
The Rebel Worker was a revolutionary journal published in Chicago by members of the Industrial Workers of the World and edited by Franklin and Penelope Rosemont, founders of the Chicago Surrealist Group. Issues of the journal were primarily distributed from the Solidarity Bookshop in Chicago, opened by the Rosemonts between the publication of Issues 2 and 3 of The Rebel Worker. The shop became a hub for Chicago’s anarchists, beats, SDS members, surrealists, and artists.
Circulation of The Rebel Worker never exceeded more than 2000 copies, making this an exceedingly rare publication.
