La Habana: Instituto Cubano del Arte e Industria Cinematografica (ICAIC), [1978]. Serigraph. 20 x 30 in. Very good, with a closed tear on the top edge (≈1 ½ in.), light age-toning and edgewear.

Vibrant poster designed by Antonio Fernández Reboiro for Che Comandante Amigo, the 1978 movie directed by Bernabé Hernández, produced by the Instituto Cubano del Arte e Industria Cinematográfica (ICAIC).

Che Comandante Amigo is a biographical sketch of Guevara released 10 years after his death, inspired and based on the homonymous poem written by Nicolás Guillén. Under the auspices of the Cuban Revolution, the designer Reboiro began working for ICAIC in 1963, and designed many film posters of modernist spirit, exhibiting the high aesthetic commitments of the Revolution .

A later reprint was produced from the original plates in the 1990s by ICAIC; due to provenance and paper quality, we have determined this example to be from the 1978 first printing.
