Item #6518 Redrum, No. 1. ed Tommy Turner.

Redrum, No. 1

New York: REDRUM, [1985]. Tommy Turner, ed. Photocopied. Saddle-stapled in wraps. 7 x 8 ½ in. [20] pp. Item #6518

The premiere issue of Tommy Turner's REDRUM, which ran for only two issues.

Issue No. 1 includes significant contributions from R. Kern, Lisa Carr [Lung Leg], and Montana [Hewson], and a photograph of David Wonjarowicz with a missing arm from the film You Killed Me First.

The cover photo shows Dee Finley, star of Richard Kern's Woman at the Wheel and Thrust in Me, and the contents of the zine include news stories of murders and suicides collaged with writing and photographs from the contributors. Paired with an essay by Lisa Carr (aka Lung Leg), a photograph of David Wojnarowicz appears near the end of the publication - a still from Kern's film You Killed Me First. Wojnarowicz would reflect on this scene, the suicide of friend Montana Hewson, the grasping hand of death, and his own mortality a few years later in Close to the Knives.

A rare document of the no wave scene and its self-described "morbid introspection."
