On April 2, 1969, twenty one members of the Black Panther Party were arrested - many were jailed on Rikers Island awaiting
trial on charges of conspiracy to plant bombs in public locations across the city. SDS calls for the end to silencing and misrepresentation of the Panthers in New York and across the country, and a broader demonstration against rent and subway fare hikes, and racism in the United States.
