Stoll shot approximately 125 rolls of 35mm film of artists and friends living in Telegraph Hill, San Francisco during a six-month period in 1955, the results of which were. Stoll’s black and white photos are interspersed with texts and quotes selected by Contact editor Evan Connell from various poets and prose writers, including Thomas Wolfe, Langston Hughes, William Blake, others.
