Booklet promoting the publication of Burroughs’ seminal work Naked Lunch by Grove Press in America on November 20, 1962. The book was published after a years-long censorship battle, due to the strict obscenity laws in the United States at the time. The Grove Press edition contains supplementary material regarding these proceedings as well as the text itself, differing significantly from Olympia Press 1959 edition, which was based on an earlier manuscript in Allen Ginsberg’s possession. This pamphlet includes an excerpt from the book, essays on the book by Terry Southern and ES Seldon, as well as shorter reviews and praise for the book written by John Ciardi, Norman Mailer, Robert Lowell, and Jack Kerouac. A scarce piece of ephemera documenting the arrival of a groundbreaking work of American fiction.
