Kralingen '70: 'n grote blijde bende [a big happy gang]
Utrecht, Netherlands: Knippenbergs Uitgeverij, 1970. Unpaginated. 9 x 6 ¾ in. Near fine condition. Item #5579
Photobook documenting the Kralingen Pop Festival - a three day festival held in Rotterdam in June 1970, billed as a European Woodstock, which attracted over 100,000 attendees. Performances by Pink Floyd, T-Rex, the Byrds, Santana, Jefferson Airplane, Country Joe, Soft Machine, and others. This photobook documents the crowds and attendees of the festival as opposed to the performers: attendees are captured watching bands perform, swimming, camping, and partying, as “a big happy gang”. The festival was sponsored by Coca-Cola, and toward the end of the book it is noted that 220,000 cans of Coke were consumed over the duration of the festival.
