Born in 1938 to one of Sweden’s most powerful aristocratic families, Carl Johan de Geer rejected his privileged upbringing by going to art school and becoming an artist, musician, illustrator, filmmaker, and photographer active in the Swedish underground. A multidisciplinary artist working in photography, printmaking, film, painting, textile, and illustration, he was one of the major figures of the 1960s Stockholm countercultural scene that marked a time of societal and cultural shifts in an otherwise conservative Sweden.
This screen printed poster is a test print for a wallpaper design produced at the height of the artist’s productivity. It features an anthropomorphic design in green and yellow.
