New York, New York: Center for New Art Activities, 1976. Tabloid, offset on newsprint. 48pp. 11 x 17 in. Very good condition, bottom right corner of front wrap torn off, wear and chipping to spine and along crease. Item #5223

The final issue of legendary quarterly conceptual arts magazine Avalanche, focusing on art from the perspectives of artists rather than critics. The layout and photography of the journal was masterful and the content was unflinching. The writing consisted almost exclusively of in-depth interviews with artists conducted by Liza Bear and Willoughby Sharp, along with artists’ statements and documentation of artwork, artists’ appearances in the journal often coincided with gallery shows. This issue includes interviews with Coleen Fitzgibbon by Liza Bear, Jim Roche by Willoughby Sharp, Meredith Monk by Liza Bear, news stories, and more.
