A poem for Bertrand Russell written in 1964, with response from Bertrand Russell and information on the newly formed Bertrand Russell Peace Foundation and Atlantic Peace foundation printed in back. Dicker’s poem rails against the violence of war and the effect it has on the individual citizen. Russell’s peace foundations were formed in response to The Cold War, The Vietnam War, and other instances of instigation throughout the world and were working towards nuclear disarmament and ending nuclear tests. Dicker’s poem and correspondence with Russell was an important moment in the counterculture’s support of the anti-war movement.
