Twelve Paintings from the POWers’ Collection

New York: Roaring Fork Press, 1966. Twelve 8 ½ x 6 in. cards enclosed in die-cut folder. Cards fine; folder very good with some wear and chipping, especially to fastening strip. Item #5117

A stylish highlighter folder containing 12 cards with pop and avant-garde paintings reproduced on one side with comments from collector on reverse. Designed by Andy Warhol and David Dalton, Vol. 1, No. 3 (the Fab! issue) of multimedia magazine Aspen was devoted to pop art and underground music. A “magazine in a box,” this set of cards was one of 12 items that came with the edition. Including reproductions of works by Willem de Kooning, Kenneth Noland, Bridget Riley, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Jasper Johns, Claes Oldenburg, and other stars of the moment, this is an attractive object that animates the ethos of the pop art moment.
