Yamamoto is one of the founders of contemporary Japanese fashion. Most well-known for designing costumes for David Bowie during his Ziggy Stardust era, Yamamoto is a bona fide cult fashion hero. This catalog displays his Spring/Summer 1981 collection, artfully photographed starring artists, creators, and friends including Joey Arias as models for the collection. Along with fashion photographs, the catalog includes quotes from models on what Kansai Yamamoto’s designs mean to them as well as messages from prominent New York fashion figures to Kansai.
