Canyon, California: 1967. Hand drawn, hand painted poster, 14 x 22 in. Very good condition with some small tears and glued paper beginning to fold up at corners. Item #4932
A remarkable one-of-a-kind example of ‘60s California and psychedelic aesthetics, this hand made poster advertises a benefit for a store in Canyon, California. Four bands performed: Country Joe & the Fish, The Youngbloods, Blackburn and Snow, Notes from the Underground; and of course, a lightshow. A tiny town about a 30 minute drive from Berkeley, Canyon was something of an outpost for avant-garde artists and musicians with links to the Bay Area folk and psychedelic scene. This benefit was held in a eucalyptus orchard.
