The seventies were a prime time for avant-garde and cutting-edge sound-making, yet there were still musicians in Europe having a hard time finding a label that would represent them. Hence, the movement Rock In Opposition was born. It was spurred by progressive rock band, Henry Cow, and involved other groups from Belgium, England, Italy, France and Sweden. This poster promotes one of the three original festivals they performed at Uppsala, Sweden in September 1979. The graphics may be by the guitarist of participating Zamla Mammaz Manna, Coste Apetrea. The movement was short-lived but revived in 2007 in France.
