Television Marquee Moon

Elektra Records, 1977. 24 x 24 in. Framed 26 x 26 in. Offset print. Item #4889

Original promotional poster with artwork from Television’s legendary 1977 debut album Marquee Moon. The album cover was photographed and designed by Robert Mapplethorpe, downtown photographer known largely for his sensitive yet blunt depictions of BDSM subculture and celebrity portraits. Mapplethorpe also shot album covers for fellow downtown artist Patti Smith. Marquee Moon has become one of the most influential and important records to come out of the CBGB’s punk scene of the late 1970s. Elektra Records logo in upper right corner, as printed on cover of record.
