In this photobook, Fischer stationed himself near a bus station on a Saturday in San Francisco’s Castro district and documented the activity on the corner for 24 hours, taking a photograph every hour. Paired with the 24 black and white photos are time-stamped diary entries from Fischer about the activity at the bus stop and his activity throughout the day executing the project. A personal and intriguing document of street photography, capturing the community and social dynamics of the neighborhood through the ebb and flow of visitors to the bench. An anthropological and conceptual look into the Castro district in the 1970s, Fischer maintains a documentary distance while being a participant in the scene.
