In 1985, American photographer Matt Weber was a taxi driver in New York City. During traffic and waiting for the green light, Weber would photograph hat he saw from the driver's seat. Weber noticed many things that most New Yorkers ignored and had forgotten. Weber captured the homeless seeking warmth from their partner on a cold winter night and a gang of prostitutes crowding a car on an empty alley way. Later in 1990, Matt Weber left the taxi business to pursue his passion for photography. His photographs range in subject and emotion, he shot anything from a robbery to a romantic kiss on the subway.

The Urban Prisoner is a collection of black and white photographs taken in New York City from 1985 to 2003 (with the exceptions of two photos). This association copy signed to Johan and Maren on April 15 2004 on the free endpaper includes a signed, limited edition black and white print (10 x 8 in) titled Perfect Kiss.
