Named after legendary photographer and close friend of Ogawa's Robert Frank, 'New York Is' is a documentation of Takayuki Ogawa's experience in New York City during the 1960's. Ogawa's depiction of the city is a mixture between a documentarian style with his unique outsider perspective. He captured classic New York moments such as young children playing in the water sprinkling from the fire hydrant and old men gambling in the streets, and a family gathering on a stoop of a brownstone building.
