Volk und Welt was a pioneering publishing company in Germany. It was founded in 1947 and they published translations of Soviet and anti-facist German literature. New York: Die explodierende Metropole (New York: The Exploding Metropolis) features text by Czech poet Miroslav Holub and 130 photographs by Slovak photographer Karol Kallay.
