“Women’s Symposium” starts and ends the punk rock issue of this 1970’s music
mag. Debbie Harry of Blondie speaks frankly of her abortions, supporting the
need for sex education and open conversations around birth control and sex,
especially within relationships.
Sadly, misogyny continues to reign in supposedly progressive countercultures,
in politics, in art, and in the mainstream. Let us all be thankful for strong women
making good music and taking a stand.
