printed poster (24 1⁄2 x 24 1⁄2 in.) Near fine condition.

New Order is the flagship band of the Manchester-based
independent label Factory Records. After Joy Division’s singer, Ian
Curtis, committed suicide, the surviving band members called
themselves New Order in 1980, and barring several break-ups and
reunions have been active to the present day. Filmmaker
Jonathan Demme (b. 1944) directed the music video for The
Perfect Kiss single that this poster advertises.

Barbara Kruger (b. 1945) is a visual artist and writer who
developed a distinct graphic style that combines the aesthetic of
mass visual communications with confrontational cultural critique.
Borrowing techniques from advertising, Kruger incorporates
provoking text in her imagery, specifically using her favorite Futura
Extra Bold typeface. Blurring the boundaries between commercial
and conceptual art, she created this poster advertising New
Order’s music video for The Perfect Kiss.
