Alastair Gordon wrote this original essay based on his undergraduate thesis, as an examination on the countercultural impact of Crass. Partly, it seeks a broader anthropological dialogue surrounding punk as a movement and the lens to discuss Neo-Marxism in relation to its historical context (in this example, Thatcher’s England), in the same way that other previous counterculture movements had been disseminated through popular political art of their respective periods. In 2016, Gordon released an expanded edition titled Crass Reflections that was published by Itchy Monkey Press with a new introduction by the author.
