Named after the Barry Mann doo-wop hit, Who Put the Bomp! Magazine is an early rock n’roll fanzine started by Gregory Shaw in 1970. Shaw eventually expanded the fanzine to Bomp! Records, releasing records for bands like The Modern Lovers, Iggy and the Stooges, and Stiv Bators and the Dead Boys. This issue of Who Put the Bomp! features a complete listing of Beatles novelty records - a huge wave of bootleg covers of Beatles songs that came out of the boom in the band’s popularity after their first visit to the United States, as well as a comprehensive history of Michigan rock.
