Superdope #4

San Francisco, CA: Self-published, 1992. Saddle-stitched in wraps. Unpaginated (22 pp). 8vo (5 ½ x 8 ½ in.). Light shelf-wear, otherwise very good condition. Item #4329

The brainchild of long-time music writer Jay Hinman, Superdope gained credence in the early 90’s as a trusted source for underground music reporting. Superdope #4, an issue that Hinman deems the most rare due to its small print run, features an early interview with Swedish noise rock band Brainbombs. Known for their shockingly violent and perverse lyrics, the interview is less informative than indicative of the band’s nihilistic tendencies. Issue #4 also features a review of a Claw Hammer concert and a slew of album reviews on records like the Gories “You Don’t Love Me/Gimme Some Money” and the Styrenes “It’s Artastic!”.
