Later in his life, Gerard Cosloy would go on to become a co-founder and executive at Matador Records, a paramount indie label which has released records by Queens of the Stone Age, Sonic Youth and a slew of others. However, his first splash in the music industry was a personal fanzine called Conflict which ran from 1979 to 1991 (and was recently resurrected for it’s 53rd issue in 2013). Whether he’s reviewing records, interviewing bands or replying to reader letters, Cosloy’s blunt and sardonic tone pervades Conflict’s wall to wall, no frills content. Number 51 includes interview with Mark E. Robinson of Unrest, fan letters, record reviews, and live show reviews.
