Janice Raymond used her dissertation in Ethics and Society from Boston College as the basis for this controversial book about the role of transsexualism in society. Raymond argues that contemporary psychological and surgical approaches to transsexualism reinforces traditional gender stereotypes. Her book was met with much criticism from the LGBT community as an unsettling, early example of transphobia in the radical feminist movement. Review slip laid in.
