Fair Use: The Story of the Letter U and the Numeral 2
Seeland, 2000. Very good condition, minor edge wear. Item #4127
Negativland’s Fair Use is a presentation of the band’s foray into copyright infringement, wherein they reclaimed U2s music for their own purposes, fashioning a parody of their music and recordings that U2’s label Island records did not find funny. Thus they entered into a series of lawsuits and far into the depth of the labyrinthine legal system, from which they returned with the content of this book. Of it, the New York Times said: “…Negativland suggests that refusing to be original, in the traditional sense, is the only way to make art that has any depth within commodity capitalism.”.
