La Jetee, or, The Jetty, is a 1962 experimental science fiction film by the documentary filmmaker and artist Chris Marker. Consisting entirely of still images and narration, La Jetee tells the story of a man sent back to the past, where he attempts to unravel the riddle of a curious, barely recollected incident he witnessed as a child on the jetty of the Orly airport. A singular work, both conceptually and technically, it helped to establish Marker as one of the most unique filmmakers of the 20th century.
