John Baldessari is a conceptual artist based in California
known for using appropriated images, combining text with
images, and effacing and subverting photographs. One of the
most prolific and well-known conceptual artists of the 20th
century, he has influenced artists like Mike Kelley, Tony
Oursler, Cindy Sherman, and Barbara Kruger. The imagery on
this poster is part of a large body of work where he obscured
found photographs with painted dots.
